Only an hour drive from San Jose in the Central Volcanic Mountain Range, the Rain Forest Aerial Tram is an unique Eco-Tourism and research facility. Here we will take you on a 90 minute long excursion through the rain forest canopy where a tour guide will explain about the hanging gardens of plants and animals hidden at the tops of tall tropical trees. Home of two thirds of all rain forest species, the site next to the northern border of Braulio Carrillo National Park, possesses one of the richest canopy communities in the world.
After the tram ride one will have the chance to walk the bottom forest for an hour, where the novice will be able for the first time to enter in this world and see the tropical life close up, while the expert will discover new things about natural history. Almost no scientific work has been done concerning life in tropical trees. The tram will host the development of scientific investigation started in 1967 by founder of the Rain Forest Aerial Tram, Dr. Don Perry.
The Braulio Carrillo National Park is a 46000 Ha. Realm of primary forest in which some 6,000 species of plants and wildlife straddle the continental divide in the Central Volcanic Mountain Range and lead into the lowlands of the Caribbean.
